Creative Spinner is deeply committed to maintaining a small carbon footprint. Our business practices reflect our deep commitment to recycling, use of sustainable materials, and utilizing technology to conserve energy.
The internet is fast becoming the world’s largest consumer of energy. In order to compensate for the power necessary to run our business we purchase wind energy credits. We offset not only our server, but our office use as well through Carbonfund.org.
Our profession allows us to telecommute from anywhere in the world. We use LCD monitors and laptops, helping to lower our energy consumption. Our computers are 100% PVC, BFR, & Mercury Free!
Green Printing
We use soy and other vegetable-based inks which are less harmful to the environment than their petroleum-based counterparts. Soy and vegetable products are used in ink for their oils, which act as the vehicle for the ink pigments. There are several types of vegetable-based printing inks, including linseed (Flax), tung (Chinawood), castor, canola, and safflower. Soy is popular due to stability that exhibits excellent “wetting” properties which enhance its ability to carry solid pigments. Most manufacturers of soy and vegetable based inks today actually “blend” ingredients, much in the way a winemaker will blend grapes, in order to take advantage of the unique characteristics of each oil.
One of the features that makes our printing unique is that our printing company uses recycled paper exclusively. Our paper is manufactured by New Leaf paper, and contains the highest possible percentages of recycled content and sustainably harvested papers, processed without the use of chlorine or chlorine derivatives (bleaching without chlorine or chlorine compounds results in a much less polluting paper making process).
Green Hosting
In addition to purchasing wind energy credits that support our office and server, Creative Spinner ensures all of our servers run efficiently to use less energy and run cooler. What this means is less energy consumption on the server as well as less energy needed to cool the server.
